Supporters of Manchester United staged a protest during the club's UEFA Champions League fixture against AS Roma at Old Trafford on Tuesday, hurling tennis balls onto the pitch in a demonstration of their dissatisfaction with the club's current direction.

The tennis balls — a symbol adopted by disgruntled fans to express frustration — landed on the playing surface as the match was in progress, drawing widespread attention to the growing unrest among the United faithful.

The act of throwing tennis balls has become a recognisable form of supporter protest at Old Trafford in recent times, reflecting the deep discontent felt by a section of the fanbase over the club's performances and management.
