Manchester United produced a dramatic fightback to claim a 4-4 draw against Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Sunday, though the point does little to ease their Premier League troubles — Carrick's side remain rooted in the relegation zone.

United were made to work for every touch of the ball, twice finding themselves two goals behind, before clawing their way back on each occasion to deny Villa all three points.

The chaos of the afternoon underlined the precarious position United currently occupy, with a point salvaged from such a turbulent encounter doing little to separate them from the bottom three.
