Manchester United Snatch Stunning 4-4 Draw with Aston Villa After Two Comebacks

Manchester United produced one of the most chaotic performances in recent Premier League history, scoring twice deep in stoppage time to claim a breathtaking 4-4 draw against Aston Villa at Old Trafford — yet still find themselves mired in the relegation zone after 10 games.
Michael Carrick's side were humiliated inside four minutes, Alysson giving Villa a 1-0 lead within 60 seconds before Senne Lammens spilled Alysson's shot and handed Nicolas Jackson a simple finish. Two down after four minutes — the earliest United had ever trailed by that margin in the Premier League.
United fight back before the break
Old Trafford drew courage from Tuesday's 3-2 comeback win over Roma. Matheus Cunha earned a penalty when Boubacar Kamara lunged in recklessly, and Bruno Fernandes stepped up to convert. With the Stretford End roaring, United pressed for the equaliser and Youri Tielemans supplied it, scoring against his former club just before half-time.
United entered the interval as narrow favourites, but that optimism evaporated almost immediately after the restart.
Villa restore two-goal lead
Diogo Dalot brought down Alysson inside the penalty area and John McGinn buried the resulting spot-kick. Minutes later, Leny Yoro headed towards his own goal, Lammens could only push it onto the post, and Jackson miskicked — leaving Leon Goretzka to force the ball home and restore Villa's two-goal cushion.
United's defensive fragility is a persistent crisis. Their backline has now conceded more goals than any other side across Europe's major leagues in all competitions this season.
Zirkzee and Dorgu complete the unthinkable
With the game seemingly beyond United, substitute Joshua Zirkzee swept in what appeared a mere consolation in the 92nd minute. Then, in the 96th minute, Lammens flapped at a corner and fellow substitute Patrick Dorgu rose to head home, stunning Villa and completing one of the most dramatic draws Old Trafford has witnessed.
For Villa, the point lifts them into the top half of the table but feels like two points squandered, with Unai Emery visibly furious at full-time. For United, the drama masks a grimmer reality — no Premier League win since August and a place in the relegation zone, a club at war with its own fans yet somehow capable of mounting two separate comebacks in a single game.
