Moffi and Onyedika Among the Goals as Frankfurt Down Hamburg 3-1

Two Super Eagles internationals found the net on Sunday, but it was Eintracht Frankfurt who claimed the Bundesliga spoils, defeating Hamburger SV 3-1 at Deutsche Bank Park in a contest full of drama and Nigerian influence.

Terem Moffi, making his eighth league appearance of the season for Hamburg, netted his second Bundesliga goal of the campaign in the 14th minute. The striker reacted sharply to draw the visitors level after Frankfurt had broken the deadlock early on, sending both sides into the half with the scores tied at 1-1.

Onyedika tips the balance

Raphael Onyedika, also on his eighth league outing of the season for Frankfurt, marked the occasion with his first goal of the campaign. His composed tap-in early in the second half restored Frankfurt's lead at 2-1, arriving after a well-constructed attack that cut through Hamburg's defence with ease.

Frankfurt had set the tone from the opening whistle, pressing high and pinning Hamburg deep in their own half. That early control yielded the game's first goal before Moffi's intervention briefly unsettled the hosts. But Frankfurt regrouped decisively at the break and never looked back once Onyedika struck.

A third goal for the hosts put the result firmly beyond doubt, condemning Hamburg to defeat despite a spirited effort from Moffi and his teammates in the closing stages. Frankfurt held on comfortably to collect all three points in front of their own supporters.

The result highlights a compelling subplot running through the Bundesliga this season — two Nigerian internationals on opposing sides, each contributing at the highest level of German football.
