Moffi's Strike Not Enough as Hamburg Fall to Frankfurt in German Cup
Terem Moffi scored for Hamburg but could not prevent his side from suffering a 3-1 home defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt in round two of the German Cup on Tuesday.
Moffi's strike came in the 79th minute, pulling one back for Hamburg when they were already trailing 3-0. The goal proved to be nothing more than a consolation, as Frankfurt held on to claim a commanding victory.
It was Moffi's second goal in all competitions since arriving at Hamburg during the summer transfer window, with his other strike coming in the league.
Onyedika goes the distance
Raphael Onyedika was also involved in the cup tie, playing the full 90 minutes for Eintracht Frankfurt as they secured their place in the next round.
Back-to-back defeats for Hamburg
The result extended Hamburg's difficult run of form, coming on the heels of a 1-0 league defeat away to Paderborn on Saturday. The two consecutive losses will concern the Hamburg coaching staff as they look to stabilise their campaign.
Frankfurt, meanwhile, arrived at the tie having themselves suffered a defeat — going down to Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga over the weekend — but bounced back emphatically to ease past their hosts and progress in the cup.
