AS Monaco chief executive Thiago Scuro has confirmed that striker Folarin Balogun will be available for a permanent transfer when the January window opens, setting off what is expected to be a fierce race among European clubs for the USMNT forward.

Scuro spoke to RMC Sport, making clear that the club had already anticipated a departure for Balogun and that recent developments have only accelerated those plans.

"We had an agreement with Balogun. What happened with him changes our plans for this winter a little. But that was the original plan: that we find a solution for Balogun. After that, we have no control over all the decisions for this winter," Scuro said.

The Monaco CEO also pointed to a broader imbalance in the squad as a motivating factor behind the club's winter business, signalling that reinforcements are needed in positions beyond attack.

"If we have the opportunity to give a better balance to the team, we will do it. We have a lot of players at the offensive level, but I think we lack options in other positions. I'm not very happy with what we did this summer. And now, we need corrective solutions," Scuro added.

Balogun, a former Arsenal academy product, has endured a mixed time since joining Monaco in a high-profile move. His spell in Ligue 1 has seen both promising moments and frustrating inconsistency, leaving the club willing to part ways ahead of the season's second half.
