Nedeljkovic Joins Rangers on Loan from Aston Villa

Kosta Nedeljkovic has completed a season-long loan move to Rangers from Aston Villa, with the Ibrox club holding a "conditional obligation" to make the deal permanent at the end of the campaign. The 20-year-old Serbia right-back becomes the 11th summer signing at the club.

Nedeljkovic arrived at Aston Villa from Red Star Belgrade — having agreed the switch in January 2024 before formally completing it that summer — and subsequently went on back-to-back loan spells at RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga. Knee and back injuries restricted him to just six appearances for the German club last season, while he made 10 outings for Villa across all competitions before heading to Germany.

Manager Derek McInnes welcomed the arrival warmly. "Kosta is an athletic and energetic full-back who is keen to get forward, but he also has a real desire to defend and compete, and he will further strengthen a key area for us," McInnes told club media. "He has already gained some valuable experience at a high level in England and Germany, as well as representing Serbia internationally."

Nedeljkovic will link up with international team-mate Vanja Dragojevic at Ibrox. Dragojevic, a midfielder, is one of three players who have already been deployed at right-back this season, alongside Dujon Sterling and Ross McCrorie — a situation Rangers will hope Nedeljkovic helps to resolve.

The defender made no secret of his enthusiasm for the move. "Rangers is such a big club, a big family, and I am excited to join and help the team have success together," he said. "For me, it was an easy decision after meeting with the coach; I only wanted Rangers. It is a big opportunity and a big responsibility. I always try to be positive and work hard."
