Newcastle United and Liverpool are coordinating plans for a tribute to Kevin Keegan ahead of their Premier League season opener at St James' Park on Sunday, 23 August (16:30 BST), following the football legend's death at the age of 75.

Keegan holds a cherished place in the hearts of supporters at both clubs. He spent two seasons as a Newcastle player from 1982 and later returned to Tyneside as manager, guiding the club to Premier League promotion in 1992–93 and a runner-up finish in 1995–96. At Liverpool, he won three league titles, the European Cup, two Uefa Cups, and the FA Cup across a trophy-laden six-year spell.
