Newcastle United have secured the signature of defender Amar Dedic from Benfica in a deal worth around £30m, with the 24-year-old putting pen to paper on a five-year contract at the club.
Dedic underwent his medical on Tyneside on Monday before the transfer was officially confirmed on Tuesday — which also happened to be his birthday. He becomes the latest addition to a Newcastle United squad aiming to establish themselves among England's elite.
Reunion with Jaissle
The move carries a personal dimension for Dedic, who has reunited with Newcastle United manager Matthias Jaissle. The pair previously worked together at Red Bull Salzburg, where they won the Austrian title in 2023.
