Nigerian Duo Shine as Trabzonspor Extend Winning Run With 2-0 Victory Over Alanyaspor

Paul Onuachu and Chibuike Nwaiwu delivered first-half assists apiece as Trabzonspor swept aside Alanyaspor 2-0 in the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday, with both Nigerians registering their first league assists of the season.
How the goals arrived
Trabzonspor broke the deadlock in the 17th minute when Nwaiwu played a lofted ball over the defence. Wagner Pina ran in behind the backline and finished from the right side of the penalty area to give the visitors the lead.
The second goal arrived in the 34th minute. Onuachu laid the ball into the path of Mohamed Salah, who composed himself and slotted past the goalkeeper to double Trabzonspor's advantage.
Six consecutive wins for Thomas Reis's side
The victory extended Trabzonspor's winning run under manager Thomas Reis to six successive league matches. That run has lifted the club to 25 points and second place in the Super Lig table—just three points adrift of leaders Galatasaray.

The two teammates will head in different directions during the upcoming international break. Nwaiwu has been named in coach Eric Chelle's 24-man Super Eagles squad for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Tanzania.
Nigeria host the first fixture on November 13 in Uyo, before travelling for the second leg on November 17. The Super Eagles currently trail Group leaders Guinea-Bissau by three points, having collected three points from their opening two qualifiers.
Nigeria came from behind to beat Madagascar 2-1 in Uyo on matchday one, but were then beaten 3-0 by Guinea-Bissau in a heavy defeat that left their qualifying campaign in need of a strong response.
Onuachu, however, was not included in Chelle's squad for either of the two fixtures.
