Obafemi Martins Backs Seyi Tinubu to Lead Nigerian Football Federation

1 hour ago·1 min

Former Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins has thrown his weight behind Seyi Tinubu, son of Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, to take charge of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) amid a deepening crisis in Nigerian football administration.

The NFF has been in turmoil following the resignation of president Ibrahim Musa Gusau, along with the general secretary and several other executive committee members. President Bola Tinubu subsequently ordered a sweeping review of the country's football governance, with elections suspended and an acting general secretary installed on an interim basis.

A call for younger leadership

Speaking on the ObiOne Podcast, Martins argued that Nigerian football needs a fresh wave of leadership — one capable of understanding both the sport and the broader administrative landscape.
