Gift Orban delivered a commanding performance — scoring one goal and setting up another — as Amedspor defeated Beşiktaş 3-2 in the Turkish Süper Lig on Sunday, lifting the club to the summit of the table.

The Nigerian forward struck in the 13th minute with a thunderous long-range effort from around 25 metres, giving Amedspor an early lead. He then turned provider nine minutes later, teeing up Dia Saba to double the advantage and make it 2-0.

Vlahovic pulls one back

Dusan Vlahovic, the former Juventus striker, gave Beşiktaş a foothold in the contest when he reduced the deficit to 2-1 ten minutes into the second half. However, Furkan Soyalp quickly restored Amedspor's two-goal cushion, converting to make it 3-1 and seemingly putting the result beyond doubt.

Drama struck in the closing stages when Amadou Cisse was shown a straight red card with six minutes remaining, leaving Amedspor to see out the game with ten men. Beşiktaş capitalised on the numerical advantage in stoppage time, with Orkun Kökçü converting from the penalty spot in the 98th minute to set up a tense finale at 3-2.

Amedspor held firm, though, securing all three points despite the late scare.

Orban's remarkable run of form

The result lifts Amedspor to the top of the Süper Lig standings, and Orban's contribution continues to stand out. The 24-year-old has now scored in four consecutive league appearances for the club, taking his tally for the season to seven goals and two assists in just six matches.

Notably absent from the Beşiktaş squad was Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi, who remained an unused substitute throughout the encounter.
