Osimhen Double Sends Galatasaray to the Top with Istanbul Derby Win

Victor Osimhen struck twice at RAMS Park on Monday night to power Galatasaray to a 2-1 victory over fierce rivals Fenerbahçe in an enthralling Istanbul derby.
The Nigerian striker opened the scoring in the 29th minute, finishing crisply inside the box after Barış Alper Yılmaz released him with a precise pass. Osimhen then doubled the advantage before the break, heading home from a Davinson Sánchez effort in the 44th minute to send the Yellow and Reds into half-time with a commanding lead.
Dominant Osimhen in career-best form
The 27-year-old is now the standout performer in the Turkish top flight this season, having registered six goals and three assists across six league appearances for Galatasaray — a return that underlines his extraordinary sharpness in front of goal.
Osimhen was withdrawn in the 88th minute, replaced by Wilfried Singo, as Galatasaray looked to manage the closing stages of the contest.
Fenerbahçe's late nerves not enough
Fenerbahçe gave themselves a route back into the match when İrfan Can Kahveci reduced the deficit in the 62nd minute, breathing life into what had looked like a one-sided affair. The visitors pressed for an equaliser in the final stages, but Galatasaray's defence held firm to claim all three points.
The result restores Galatasaray to the summit of the league table, while Fenerbahçe are left to regroup in fifth place.
