Osimhen Plans to Pursue University Degree After Retiring From Football

6 hours ago·2 min

Victor Osimhen, the Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker, has opened up about his ambitions beyond football — revealing that he intends to earn a university degree once his playing career comes to an end.

Speaking in an interview with Instablog TV, Osimhen reflected on education, personal growth, and the responsibility he feels toward younger generations.

Education as a personal goal

"As an adult, not everything I learned in school. There are some kinds of life lessons you encounter through life's journey," Osimhen said. He went on to describe a university degree as something he is actively considering, noting that a football career has a natural expiry date.

"For me, it would be an amazing thing to also try to get a degree, which I'm still considering because football, you won't play for so long, probably 20, 25 years, and then you're done," he added.

Setting a standard for the next generation

Osimhen acknowledged that he has several options available to him after retirement, yet he stressed that going back into education would carry deeper meaning — both as a personal milestone and as a message to younger people watching his journey.

"In as much as I have a lot of things to fall back to when I'm done, I think it's still important for me to set an example, to set a standard for the younger generation," he said.

The 2023 African Player of the Year also spoke directly to young people who have been forced to abandon their studies due to financial hardship or personal circumstances, urging them not to view that chapter as permanently closed.

"Even though you dropped out due to some kind of challenges you have, it's something you can always go back to. School is always there."

Osimhen's message is a reminder that ambition — whether on the pitch or in the classroom — does not come with an age limit.
