Premier League gameweek four is on the verge of making rare history — and it all depends on what happens at Elland Road on Monday night.

Through the opening nine fixtures of the round, not a single home side managed to claim three points. Four matches ended in draws, while Ipswich Town, Nottingham Forest, Arsenal, Brighton and Hove Albion, and Manchester City all collected away victories.

Should Newcastle United prevent Leeds United from winning on home soil, the entire gameweek will have passed without a home win — only the fourth time such a scenario has unfolded across more than 1,300 rounds of Premier League football.

A rarity in Premier League history

The last time a full matchweek produced zero home victories was the weekend of 23–24 September 2000. On that occasion, seven of the 10 games finished level, with Southampton, West Ham United, and Charlton Athletic all winning away from home.

The two occasions before that were in December 1996 and on Boxing Day 1994 — the latter falling in the final season when 22 clubs competed in the Premier League, before the top flight was reduced to its current 20-team format.

Since the Premier League launched in August 1992, there have been 1,308 rounds of fixtures. With three previous occurrences across 1,307 completed matchweeks, a weekend without a single home win has materialised on just 0.22 percent of all gameweeks — roughly once every 11-and-a-half seasons in a 38-round campaign.
