Paris Saint-Germain are UEFA Super Cup champions for the second time, edging Aston Villa 2-1 in a contest that showcased two of the competition's most exciting young talents.

Désir Doué proved the difference on the night, racing in behind Villa's defensive line to restore PSG's lead and seal the trophy — one the Parisian club first claimed in 2025 following a penalty shootout victory over Tottenham.

A debut goal to remember

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia broke the deadlock early, cutting inside from the left and slotting past Marco Bizot to give Paris Saint-Germain the initiative. Villa, however, hit back through an unlikely source.

Brian Madjo, just 17 years old, marked his professional debut with a goal that levelled the contest — becoming the youngest scorer in UEFA Super Cup history. Shrugging off a challenge from Willian Pacho, Madjo volleyed the equaliser home with composure beyond his years. He might have had more, with three additional chances narrowly missing the target.

Doué then delivered the decisive blow, dashing behind the Villa backline to restore PSG's advantage and clinch the trophy for Luis Enrique's side.

Teenagers shine for Villa

Aston Villa were without experienced campaigners Ollie Watkins, Ezri Konsa, and Emiliano Martinez, all absent following extended post-World Cup rest periods. Their absence created space for younger players to step up.

Madjo and 19-year-old George Hemmings both impressed against elite opposition. Hemmings came within inches of an equaliser moments after Doué's winner, only for PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov to produce a fine save to deny him.

Unai Emery's refreshed Villa squad pushed Paris Saint-Germain hard throughout — echoing the pulsating 5-4 Champions League encounter between the two sides in 2025. PSG held on to begin the 2026/27 campaign with silverware, but Emery's young guns served notice that Villa remain a formidable force.
