Ten clubs booked their places in the second preliminary round of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League on Sunday, with Pyramids FC, ASEC Mimosas, and Horoya AC among the sides confirming qualification following a packed night of first-round, second-leg fixtures.

Pyramids and Simba impress with big wins

Pyramids FC delivered the standout result of the evening, hammering Kenya's Gor Mahia 5-1 to seal a commanding 7-1 aggregate victory. The Egyptian side were ruthless across both legs and will enter the next round as one of the competition's more formidable outfits.

Simba SC were equally impressive, routing Mighty Wanderers 6-1 to complete a 7-1 aggregate triumph. The Tanzanian giants' continental form continues to be a statement of intent.

Libya's Al-Swehly SC also made short work of their opponents, defeating KZ FC 3-0 to advance 4-0 on aggregate.

Away goals and penalties settle tight ties

Not every qualifier came through in comfortable fashion. FC San Pedro of Ivory Coast needed the away goals rule to edge past Rivers United after Sunday's encounter in Nigeria ended 2-2. The aggregate score stood at 3-3, but San Pedro's goals away from home proved decisive.

Colombe Sportive du Dja et Lobo required a penalty shoot-out to eliminate Stade Malien after both legs ended goalless. The Cameroonian side held their nerve to win 4-3 from the spot.

Horoya AC mounted a fine comeback against Algeria's JS Saoura, winning the second leg 3-1 to overturn a first-leg deficit and advance 3-2 on aggregate. The Guinean club's determination made them one of the night's more compelling stories.

ASEC, Teungueth, and others advance smoothly

ASEC Mimosas saw off ASCK 2-1 in the second leg to progress 3-2 on aggregate, while Senegal's Teungueth FC dispatched FC Kanifing of The Gambia 1-0 to seal a 2-0 aggregate win.

Sidama Bunna FC completed a clean sweep, beating Aglon FC 3-0 to finish 3-0 on aggregate. FC Nouadhibou of Mauritania advanced on a 1-1 aggregate after holding Uganda's Vipers SC to a goalless draw.
