Rashford's Club Future Unresolved as Barcelona Deadline Passes

Marcus Rashford cut a relaxed figure as he trained in sweltering 30-degree heat in Kansas City, giving little indication that his uncertain club future was weighing on him. With England's World Cup campaign beginning on Wednesday against Croatia in Dallas, his attention is firmly fixed on international duty.

Cameras caught Rashford working through passing drills alongside Jude Bellingham, Ivan Toney, Djed Spence, Eberechi Eze, and Anthony Gordon — a reminder that, for now, club affairs must wait.

Barcelona's deadline comes and goes

Monday brought no surprises. The deadline Barcelona had agreed with Manchester United to activate a £26 million purchase clause — converting Rashford's loan into a permanent transfer — passed without the Spanish champions exercising the option.

As of 1 July, Rashford will officially revert to being a Manchester United player, tied to a £325,000-a-week contract with two years remaining.

A return to Old Trafford?

In principle, Rashford could rebuild his career at Manchester United under head coach Michael Carrick, who knows him well as a former team-mate and coach. When asked about the situation in April, Carrick said no decision had been made, adding:
