Real Madrid Demand Record £137m for Vinicius Junior as Arsenal Circle
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has placed a record £137 million price tag on Vinicius Junior, effectively blocking any cut-price exit for the Brazilian star — including from Premier League side Arsenal.
According to reports from SPORT, cited by Yahoo Sports, Perez will not sanction Vinicius' departure unless an incoming offer matches that figure. The stance comes despite Real Madrid's weakened negotiating hand: the 26-year-old's contract at the Bernabéu expires next summer, and talks over an extension have stalled.
The risk of losing him for nothing
With no new deal in sight, Real Madrid face the real possibility of Vinicius leaving on a free transfer in 2026. Yet rather than accepting a reduced fee now to guarantee a return, the club insists on the full asking price — a calculated gamble on the forward's status as one of the world's best.
Vinicius has been central to Real Madrid's success in recent seasons, accumulating 128 goals and 100 assists across 375 appearances in all competitions. His pace, trickery, and consistent goal threat have made him indispensable to Los Blancos.
He carried that form into the international stage, scoring four goals in five matches for Brazil during a strong World Cup campaign.
Arsenal's attacking rebuild
Arsenal have already strengthened their attack by signing Christos Tzolis this summer, but the Gunners require further firepower. With both Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli expected to depart the Emirates Stadium, manager Mikel Arteta's side are actively pursuing elite attacking options.
Vinicius represents a marquee target, though securing him would demand a club-record outlay. Whether Arsenal are prepared to meet Real Madrid's valuation remains to be seen — but at £137 million, the barrier to entry could scarcely be higher.
