Reijnders Joins Al-Qadsiah in £52m Deal After Just One Season at Manchester City

Netherlands midfielder Tijjani Reijnders has departed Manchester City for Saudi Arabian club Al-Qadsiah in a deal worth £52 million — after spending just one season at the Etihad Stadium.
Reijnders had arrived at City only last summer, costing £46.5 million from AC Milan, but struggled to establish himself under Pep Guardiola. He did, however, contribute across 50 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven goals, as City claimed both the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup in Guardiola's final campaign in charge.
World Cup exit and City farewell
At the 2026 World Cup, Reijnders started all three of Netherlands' group-stage matches, though he could only watch from the bench as his country fell to a last-32 defeat against Morocco.
His departure from City was signalled when new manager Enzo Maresca omitted him from the squad for Sunday's 3-0 Community Shield loss to Arsenal — a result that underlined the squad changes still to come at the club.
In a farewell message, Reijnders expressed gratitude to everyone connected with City.
