Reijnders Joins Al-Qadsiah in £52m Deal After Single Season at Manchester City

1 hour ago·1 min

Tijjani Reijnders has departed Manchester City for Saudi Arabian club Al-Qadsiah in a deal worth £52 million, ending a turbulent one-season stay at the Etihad Stadium.

The Netherlands international, 28, had only arrived at City last summer for £46.5 million from AC Milan, but was unable to establish himself as a regular under Pep Guardiola. Despite making 50 appearances across all competitions and contributing seven goals, his time at the club was marked more by struggle than success.

Reijnders did collect two domestic trophies during his single campaign — an FA Cup and a Carabao Cup — as City claimed silverware in Guardiola's final season in charge. Yet those honours were not enough to secure his future at the club.

World Cup exit and squad exclusion

At the 2026 World Cup, Reijnders started all three of the Netherlands' group-stage fixtures, but was left on the bench as an unused substitute in their last-32 defeat against Morocco — a moment that underscored his fading role at the highest level.

His exit from City was effectively confirmed when new manager Enzo Maresca omitted him from the squad for Sunday's Community Shield against Arsenal, a match City lost 3-0.

Fond farewell from Reijnders
