Curaçao goalkeeper Eloy Room has celebrated a landmark 0-0 draw against Ecuador at the FIFA World Cup 2026 — a result that handed the Caribbean nation their first-ever point on football's biggest stage.
Room stood between the posts for 90 minutes of extraordinary quality, producing 15 saves to deny Ecuador at every turn. The tally falls just one short of the all-time World Cup record, set by USA's Tim Howard against Belgium in the Round of 16 at the 2014 tournament.
A childhood dream fulfilled
Speaking to FIFA after the match, Room reflected on how far Curaçao have come since their journey toward the World Cup began more than a decade ago.
