Rosenior Says Chelsea Sacking Had 'Nothing to Do with Football'

Liam Rosenior has spoken candidly about his brief and turbulent spell as Chelsea manager, insisting that whatever led to his dismissal had nothing to do with the results on the pitch.

Rosenior arrived at Stamford Bridge in January 2026, recruited from sister club Strasbourg to succeed Enzo Maresca on a six-and-a-half-year contract. He won his opening fixture and guided the club through an encouraging early run — only to be sacked in April, after just 23 matches in charge, with Chelsea sitting seventh in the Premier League table.

A snowball in the media

Speaking to So Foot, and relayed by Sport Witness, the 42-year-old described his four months at the club as simultaneously the greatest and most gruelling experience of his career. He reflected on how early promise quickly attracted an intensity he had not anticipated.
