Super Eagles forward Rafiu Durosinmi has opened up about a turbulent spell at Pisa Sporting Club, pointing to Serie A's intensely defensive style of play as a central reason behind his difficult debut season in Italian football.

Durosinmi arrived at Pisa in January 2026 in a club-record deal worth €11 million, but managed only one goal and one assist across 12 Serie A appearances before the club were relegated at the end of the campaign.

A perfect start, then everything unravelled

Despite the disappointing overall outcome, the Nigerian international told Belgian outlet HBVL that his opening days in Pisa were encouraging. He scored on his debut against Atalanta, only for circumstances to turn against him almost immediately afterwards.
