Sevilla Push Chidera Ejuke Towards the Exit Door This Summer

1 hour ago·2 min

Sevilla have excluded Super Eagles winger Chidera Ejuke from their pre-season friendlies as the Spanish club look to accelerate his departure before the window closes this summer.

According to Spanish outlet AS, Ejuke continues to train alongside Sevilla's first-team squad but has been deliberately left out of warm-up fixtures to signal that his time at the club is coming to an end. The 28-year-old has one year remaining on his contract, meaning Sevilla risk losing him for nothing if they fail to secure a transfer fee before the deal expires.

Where could Ejuke end up?

Reports have linked the Nigerian winger to clubs in Major League Soccer, Belgium, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. No deal has yet been confirmed, but the pressure to reach an agreement is mounting on all sides.

Ejuke arrived at Sevilla in the summer of 2024 as a free agent, having departed CSKA Moscow after his contract with the Russian Premier League side ran out. He previously represented Hertha Berlin before his move to Russia.

At Sevilla, Ejuke managed one goal and one assist across 27 appearances in all competitions last season — a modest return that has done little to persuade the Rojiblancos to keep faith with him heading into a new campaign.

Adams already out the door

Ejuke is not the only Nigerian international to have found himself surplus to requirements in Seville. His compatriot Akor Adams has already completed his exit, joining newly promoted Serie A side Venezia ahead of the new season.

With Adams gone and Ejuke's future unresolved, Sevilla are clearly undertaking a significant overhaul of their squad — and the Super Eagles contingent at the club looks set to be reduced to zero before the transfer window shuts.
