Sheringham Backs Isak to Lead Liverpool's Premier League Title Push

Manchester United legend Teddy Sheringham has identified Alexander Isak as the player most likely to fuel Liverpool's Premier League title ambitions next season, following the striker's British-record £125 million switch from Newcastle United to Anfield.
Sheringham, speaking to the ECHO via ComeOn, praised Isak's quality in front of goal and expressed confidence that the Swedish forward has the attributes to make a decisive impact — potentially helping Liverpool chase a treble.
High praise for a proven talent
"Alexander Isak could have a massive say on the Premier League next season," Sheringham told the ECHO. "I loved him when he was playing for Newcastle United, firing on all cylinders. He's definitely a player who can make the difference but he's had a tough year."
Sheringham acknowledged that Isak's injury-disrupted campaign last season will have taken a toll, but remained optimistic about the forward's recovery ahead of the new term. "Injuries like that really do set you back but hopefully he'll come into next season in good form," he said.
The former Manchester United striker noted that Isak is benefiting from competitive minutes with Sweden at the World Cup rather than a conventional pre-season, giving him an extended window to rediscover his best form before Liverpool's campaign begins.
Bringing back the Newcastle best
"He has a long time to get himself back on track and in shape for Liverpool this summer and hopefully for his sake he'll be back to the player that he was for Newcastle," Sheringham added. "That's what the Liverpool fans want to see."
On the international stage, Isak remains Sweden's central figure — a forward who can stretch defences, exploit space behind a high line, and outpace centre-backs at the top level. Those qualities, Sheringham believes, are precisely what Liverpool need to mount a serious challenge for the title.
