Spain Dismantle France 2-0 to Reach World Cup Final
Spain are heading to the World Cup final after a commanding 2-0 victory over France in their semi-final, with Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedro Porro both finding the net in a display of clinical efficiency.
Penalty kick starts the rout
Spain broke the deadlock in the 20th minute when Oyarzabal stepped up and converted from the penalty spot. The spot kick was awarded after France left back Lucas Digne accidentally caught Lamine Yamal with his boot inside the penalty area.
From that moment, Spain controlled the contest and France struggled to mount any meaningful response. The Spanish side were dominant for long stretches and more than justified the final scoreline.
Porro seals it in style
The second goal arrived courtesy of a sharp combination between Pedro Porro and midfielder Dani Olmo. The pair exchanged a deft one-two before Porro calmly slid the ball past goalkeeper Mike Maignan to put the result beyond doubt.
The win sends Spain to their second World Cup final and their first since they lifted the trophy back in 2010. They will face their opponents in Sunday's showpiece knowing they were the better side across both semi-final performances.
