Super Eagles' Adidas Jerseys Set to Hit Stores in January 2027

Nigerian football fans at home and across the globe will be able to purchase the Super Eagles' new Adidas kits from early January 2027, signalling the dawn of a fresh chapter in the country's kit sponsorship history after an 11-year partnership with Nike comes to an end.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) struck a deal with German sportswear giant Adidas worth $8.5 million per year, placing it among the most valuable kit sponsorship agreements on the African continent.

What the deal means for Nigerian football

Under the terms of the agreement, Adidas will pay the NFF $4.5 million in cash annually. An additional $4 million will be delivered in the form of playing kits, training equipment, and other sports apparel for Nigeria's various national teams.

The partnership also includes a 20 percent royalty payable to the NFF on qualifying Adidas merchandise sales, opening a further revenue stream for Nigerian football.

Former NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau unveiled the details of the deal in Abuja in August 2026, describing it as the biggest kit sponsorship arrangement in African football. The contract, already signed, is scheduled to take effect in January 2027.

Adidas representatives finalise designs in Lagos

Representatives from Adidas travelled to Lagos last month to conclude the jersey design process alongside NFF officials. The meetings also covered discussions around the official unveiling date and broader logistical arrangements.

The new deal covers all of Nigeria's national teams, including the Super Eagles, the Super Falcons, and the country's youth sides.

A return with history behind it

The reunion with Adidas carries considerable historical weight. The German manufacturer previously outfitted Nigeria's national teams during landmark moments — among them, Nigeria's debut appearance at the 1994 FIFA World Cup and the Super Eagles' triumph at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria's association with Nike stretched back to 2015, making the switch to Adidas a significant commercial and symbolic shift for the federation.

Fans await unveiling and retail details

With the jerseys expected in stores by early January 2027, supporters are now looking ahead to the official launch, retail prices, and distribution channels for fans both inside Nigeria and abroad. The duration of the new contract and the official jersey prices have not yet been made public.
