4 weeks ago·2 min

The Super Eagles have begun assembling in London ahead of the 2026 Unity Cup, with goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo, winger Femi Azeez, and Plymouth Argyle striker Owen Oseni among the first players to check into camp.

Okonkwo, who recently switched his international allegiance from England to Nigeria, and Azeez are among several new faces head coach Éric Chelle has called up for the invitational tournament. Oseni, handed his maiden call-up by Chelle, has also reported for duty.

Terem Moffi, Tochukwu Nnadi, and Philip Otele are the other foreign-based professionals currently in camp.

Home-based players travel with Chelle

Chelle flew to London on Friday accompanied by eight home-based players and members of his backroom staff. Junior Ayobami, Al-Ameen Tijani, Michael Atata, Adeoye Aderemi, Oputa Chibueze, Ighoke Obinna, Ocholi Elias, and Oyedokun Tosin made the journey alongside the coach.

A further 14 players — including captain Wilfred Ndidi and winger Moses Simon — are still expected to join the squad before competitive preparations get underway.

First training session on the cards

Nigeria's opening training session is scheduled for later tonight at Cray Valley FC, Middle Park Avenue, London SE9 5HP, as the Super Eagles begin preparation for their semi-final meeting with Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe arrived in the United Kingdom on Thursday and held their first training session in Birmingham on Friday. Kaitano Tembo's Warriors are expected to travel to London on Sunday ahead of their clash with Nigeria.

Nigeria defend the title

The Super Eagles will face Zimbabwe in the first semi-final at the Valley — home of Sky Bet Championship club Charlton Athletic — on Tuesday, 26 May. India and Jamaica contest the second semi-final at the same venue on Wednesday, 27 May, with the final scheduled for Saturday, 30 May.
