Nigeria's Super Eagles are scheduled to face Russia in an international friendly at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.

The match arrives at a busy period for Eric Chelle's side, coming just one week after their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture against Guinea-Bissau's Djurtus in Bissau on September 29. Before that, Nigeria open their AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign at home against Madagascar's Barea on Friday, September 25.

The two nations previously met in a friendly on June 6, 2025, at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium, where the encounter ended 1-1. Russia took an early lead when Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi turned the ball into his own net, but Nigeria responded in the second half through Tolu Arokodare, who levelled the score.

Heading into October, the Super Eagles sit 26th in the FIFA world rankings, with Russia — who go by the nickname 'Our Boys' — positioned just behind them at 35th.
