Swansea City have agreed a season-long loan deal to bring Manchester City winger Jeremy Monga to the Swansea.com Stadium, with the 17-year-old set to travel for a medical ahead of Tuesday's 23:00 BST transfer deadline.

A teenage talent with a record to his name

Monga is a product of Leicester City's academy, where he made his senior debut at just 15 during the 2024-25 season. He went on to feature 30 times for Leicester in the Championship last season — and, in August, became the youngest goalscorer in Championship history when he netted in a 2-1 defeat to Preston North End.

His performances caught the attention of Manchester City, who secured his signature on a five-year deal earlier this summer. Upon completing that transfer, City director of football Hugo Viana described Monga as an "exciting player" who had "already made huge strides in his young career."

The England Under-19 international will now look to build on that promise with Vitor Matos' unbeaten Swansea side, who have already added Elijah Just, Moussa Yeo, and Joseph Opoku to their wide options this summer.

Walta set for MLS move

As Monga arrives, Finland international Leo Walta is set to depart on loan to Major League Soccer side Los Angeles. The 23-year-old was left out of the matchday squad for Swansea's 3-0 win at Derby County on Saturday.

Walta originally joined the Swans on loan from Swedish club Sirius in February before the deal was made permanent earlier this summer. He made 10 league appearances in the latter stages of last season, scoring once in a 3-1 victory over Charlton Athletic on the final day of the campaign. His only outing this season came as a late substitute in the opening-day 2-1 win at Stoke City.

Midfield reshaped ahead of busy run

Swansea are also understood to be closing in on Huddersfield Town midfielder Tom Iorpenda as Matos continues to reshape his squad. The club sold Ethan Galbraith to Stoke City in the summer and remain without Goncalo Franco until October following ankle surgery.

To cover those departures, Matos brought in Canada international Stephen Eustaquio from Porto and New Zealand international Just from Motherwell. Jay Fulton, Melker Widell, and Marko Stamenic also remain in midfield contention, with Yeo able to operate through the centre when required.

Swansea, unbeaten in the Championship so far this season, host Watford at the Swansea.com Stadium on Tuesday evening at 19:45 BST.
