Iran captain Mehdi Taremi has launched a scathing attack on FIFA, describing the 2026 World Cup as a logistical disaster after his side drew 1-1 with Egypt in the group stage.
Speaking to reporters following the match, Taremi outlined a string of serious failings: exhausting daily travel between Iran's training base in Tijuana, Mexico, and their match venues in the United States, the absence of recovery staff, and unresolved visa problems preventing key federation officials from joining the squad.
Taremi's direct challenge to FIFA
The Inter Milan striker did not mince his words, placing responsibility squarely on football's world governing body for allowing the problems to persist from the very opening day of the tournament.
