Texas Attorney General Opens FIFA World Cup Ticket Probe
The Texas Attorney General's Office has launched a formal investigation into FIFA's ticketing practices for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, after receiving complaints from fans who claim they were misled about seat locations for matches scheduled in Dallas and Houston.
The probe adds Texas to a growing list of U.S. states scrutinising FIFA's handling of World Cup ticket sales. New York, New Jersey, and California have each previously opened similar investigations into the governing body's ticketing operations ahead of the tournament.
The complaints centre on allegations that supporters purchased tickets without receiving accurate information about where their seats would be located inside the respective stadiums — a concern that has drawn the attention of consumer protection authorities across multiple states.
FIFA has not yet issued a public statement in response to the Texas investigation. The tournament is set to be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
