Tottenham and Inter Milan have reached a £30m agreement for England right-back Djed Spence, with Spurs negotiating a 10 percent sell-on clause into the deal.

Spence was cleared to travel to Italy for a medical as the two clubs finalised terms, with the full package of £30m now confirmed.

World Cup star finds path blocked at Spurs

Spence caught the eye during England's run to third place at the FIFA World Cup 2026 this summer, but his route to regular minutes at Spurs was increasingly narrow. Pedro Porro held the first-choice right-back berth, while Destiny Udogie, Andy Robertson, Souza, and Ben Davies all competed for places on the left.

Inter had been searching for a new right-wing-back option and turned to Spence after failing to agree a fee for Al Ittihad winger Moussa Diaby.

Spence keen on Italian return

The defender still had three years remaining on his Spurs contract — with a club option for a further year — but was eager to make the switch, having thrived during a six-month loan at Genoa that began in January 2024.

Tottenham originally brought Spence to north London from Middlesbrough in July 2022, in a deal that could rise to £20m.
