The fixture marks the opening of Roberto De Zerbi's first full season as Spurs manager. De Zerbi inherits a side that narrowly survived relegation last term, finishing 17th for the second year running.

Tottenham's first home fixture of the season arrives one week later, when Newcastle visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on August 29.

North London Derby dates

The first north London derby of the campaign is scheduled for December 5, with Arsenal coming to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The return meeting at the Emirates Stadium falls on May 1, signalling the start of a gruelling run-in.

Tottenham's final five matches of the season make for uncomfortable reading: they visit Arsenal on May 1, before hosting Chelsea on May 8 and Manchester United on May 23, then closing the season with a trip to Aston Villa on May 30.

A London derby at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea is pencilled in for October 24, while Manchester City visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on February 10 following Spurs' trip to the Etihad Stadium on January 2.
