Spurs' difficult start

The pre-season optimism that surrounded Spurs has long since dissolved. De Zerbi's men have collected just one point from their opening three league matches and, more alarmingly, have failed to score a single goal. Should they remain goalless against Everton, it would mark the first time in the club's history that they have gone four consecutive opening-day league matches without finding the net.

Winger Mykhailo Mudryk is set to miss up to eight weeks with an ankle injury, though James Maddison may be available again after recovering from a shoulder problem.

Everton arrive in form

Everton, managed by David Moyes, arrive in North London in far better spirits. The Toffees have taken five points from their first three games and remain unbeaten, thanks in large part to a pair of late equalisers — including Ainsley Maitland-Niles' dramatic leveller against Manchester United last weekend. Maitland-Niles, signed on deadline day, could earn a place in the starting XI at Spurs.

Jack Grealish is also in contention after coming off the bench against Manchester United on his return from a loan spell at Manchester City. Midfielder James Garner picked up an injury late in that match, which could hand summer signing Hayden Hackney a starting role.
