Tottenham in Talks to Sign Manchester City Duo Savinho and Marmoush

1 hour ago·2 min

Tottenham Hotspur are in active talks with Manchester City over a potential double swoop for forwards Savinho and Omar Marmoush, BBC Sport has learned.

Negotiations between the two Premier League clubs are progressing, though no agreement has been finalised. City would expect to make a significant profit on both players.

Savinho's limited role at City

Spurs first registered interest in Brazilian winger Savinho during 2025, when the then-21-year-old chose to stay at Etihad Stadium. The 22-year-old, who joined City for £30 million from French club Troyes in 2024, managed only seven Premier League starts last season and is now open to a move away.

Marmoush out of favour under Guardiola

Egyptian forward Marmoush arrived at City from Frankfurt for £59 million in 2025 but struggled to hold down a regular place under manager Pep Guardiola during the 2025-26 campaign. The 27-year-old still contributed eight goals across 36 appearances in all competitions — a respectable return for a player on the fringes of the squad.

De Zerbi's attacking overhaul

Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi has already reshaped his midfield this summer, bringing in Mateus Fernandes from West Ham United and Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United for a combined outlay of £185 million. However, De Zerbi has repeatedly underlined the urgency of reinforcing his attack after Tottenham finished 17th in the Premier League last term, scoring just 48 goals in 38 matches.

Tottenham's interest extends to Liverpool winger Cody Gakpo, though it remains uncertain whether the club can fund moves for all three players simultaneously.

City's summer of change

Manchester City have been active sellers this window, offloading captain Rodri, midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, and second-choice goalkeeper James Trafford among others.

Tottenham open their Premier League season away at Brentford on Saturday at 17:30 BST, while Manchester City host Bournemouth on Sunday at 14:00 BST.
