Tottenham Target Osimhen in £55 Million Pursuit
Tottenham Hotspur are pursuing a deal for Galatasaray and Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen, with initial approaches reportedly valuing the forward at between £50 million and £55 million, according to CaughtOffside.
Galatasaray are holding out for closer to £65 million — a figure some observers consider optimistic, given Osimhen's lengthy contract and central role in Istanbul. Despite the gap in valuations, Tottenham have received sporting approval to open formal negotiations and believe personal terms will not prove a significant hurdle.
Why Spurs need a new striker
The search for a reliable centre-forward has become one of Tottenham's most pressing priorities heading into the new season. Richarlison's future at the club remains in doubt, and Dominic Solanke has yet to fully address the goalscoring void. Manager Roberto De Zerbi's possession-heavy system demands a physical, dynamic No. 9 capable of serving as the team's focal point in attack.
Osimhen fits that profile convincingly. The former African Player of the Year delivered 41 goals and ten assists across 52 appearances for Galatasaray last season — numbers that explain why De Zerbi is said to regard him as a transformative addition.
Osimhen hits the ground running in pre-season
The Nigerian international showed he arrives in form after scoring the opening goal in the 18th minute of Galatasaray's 3-3 pre-season draw with French Ligue 1 side Rennes, underlining his readiness for the campaign ahead.
Galatasaray are scheduled to face Villarreal in their final pre-season fixture next Saturday before beginning their domestic league campaign against Corum on August 14.
Tottenham, who secured their Premier League status only on the final day of last season, will be eager to finalise reinforcements as De Zerbi looks to build a squad capable of challenging higher up the table.
