England manager Thomas Tuchel has revealed that Bukayo Saka is set to come off the bench once again when England face Ghana in their second Group L fixture at the FIFA World Cup 2026 on Tuesday.

Tuchel is carefully managing Saka's return to full fitness, with the plan to hand him a starting berth only in England's final group game against Panama on June 27th. Noni Madueke is expected to keep his place on the right wing in the meantime.

Saka made his mark despite not starting England's opening match — a 4-2 victory over Croatia — coming on as a substitute and immediately setting up Marcus Rashford for England's fourth goal of the evening.

Tuchel's bench strength a key weapon

The England manager was effusive about the impact of his substitutes, drawing particular praise for the performances off the bench against their earlier opponents.
