Venezia Sign Nigeria's Akor Adams From Sevilla in Record Deal

58 minutes ago·2 min

Venezia have struck a deal with Sevilla to bring Super Eagles striker Akor Adams to Serie A, with the Spanish club set to receive a transfer fee of €16 million — the largest outlay in Venezia's history.

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the agreement, noting that Sevilla had rejected earlier bids from the Italian side before Venezia returned with an improved offer that satisfied their demands. Adams has also settled personal terms, clearing the final hurdle for his move to Italy.

A record purchase for the Winged Lions

The €16 million fee makes Adams the most expensive player Venezia have ever signed, underlining the club's ambition as they return to the top flight after winning the Serie B title last season — their third second-tier championship in the club's history.

Venezia are expected to continue reinforcing their squad with further quality additions as they look to secure their Serie A status in the coming campaign.

A strong season in Spain

Adams produced impressive figures in his debut full season at Sevilla, contributing 10 goals and three assists across 32 league appearances. That form came after a difficult opening spell at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, where he arrived in January 2025 from French club Montpellier for a reported €5 million and was restricted to just four league outings without a goal due to injury.

Making his mark with the Super Eagles

The 26-year-old earned his first Nigeria call-up during the second half of last season, featuring in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Lesotho and Benin. He announced himself on debut by netting after coming off the bench against Lesotho.

Adams was also included in the Super Eagles squad that claimed the bronze medal at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, further cementing his standing in the national team setup.
