Vicario Set to Return to Serie A on Juventus Loan Deal

1 hour ago·2 min

Tottenham have agreed to loan goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario to Juventus, with the Italian club holding an option to make the move permanent, BBC Sport Football reports.

Vicario, 29, is expected to travel to Turin to finalise the deal, which includes a non-mandatory purchase option worth £8.6 million. The move marks a return to Serie A for the Italy international, who spent two seasons at Spurs after signing from Empoli for £17.2 million in 2023, going on to make 117 appearances for the north London club.

Martinez pursuit collapses

The deal comes after Juventus abandoned their pursuit of Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez. Negotiations over Martinez broke down as the Turin club shifted focus toward signing Parma's Zion Suzuki. Martinez had also been dealing with a finger injury that has left him unavailable for selection.

Kinsky confirmed as Spurs' number one

Vicario's departure follows his loss of form and favour at Spurs under head coach Roberto de Zerbi, who elevated understudy Antonin Kinsky to the starting position last season. De Zerbi has since made clear that Kinsky will be his first-choice goalkeeper heading into the new campaign.

To provide depth behind Kinsky, Spurs signed Martin Dubravka on a free transfer from Burnley in July. Dubravka's arrival is part of a club-record summer spending spree that has brought six new players to the club, with at least two more attacking reinforcements still targeted.

Major overhaul at Spurs

While adding heavily to the squad, Tottenham have also moved on a number of established names. Captain Cristian Romero, England international Djed Spence, and Yves Bissouma are among those who have been sold, loaned, or released as the club reshapes its roster under de Zerbi's vision.
