The Dutch club have already rejected an opening bid from the Hammers, and sources in the Netherlands indicate that the AZ hierarchy will not approve Parrott's departure for anything less than their full asking price.

A key target for Nuno's rebuild

Manager Nuno Espirito Santo has retained his position at the London Stadium despite West Ham's relegation from the Premier League. He has reportedly identified Parrott as the central figure in his attacking plans as the club pursues an immediate return to the top flight.

West Ham have raised substantial funds this summer through the sales of Crysencio Summerville and Mateus Fernandes, transactions that are expected to bring in approximately £150 million combined. Club officials are nonetheless determined to exercise financial discipline as they navigate life in the Championship, where revenues are considerably lower.

Parrott's remarkable rise

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a stellar two-year spell at AZ Alkmaar in the Eredivisie, scoring more than 50 goals across all competitions. His performances for the Republic of Ireland last season brought him to wider attention, though he was unable to guide his country to the FIFA World Cup 2026.

FC Porto have also registered interest in the striker, but West Ham are understood to be the frontrunners to secure his signature if an agreement on fee can be reached.
