Sunderland claimed their first Premier League points of the season on Sunday, beating Fulham 1-0 at the Stadium of Light thanks to a late goal from substitute Wilson Isidor.

The Black Cats, who had suffered an opening-day defeat at Ipswich, bounced back in emphatic fashion — even if chances were scarce throughout a tight contest. Fulham, meanwhile, remain winless after two matches and are yet to register a point under manager Alvaro Arbeloa.

Isidor atones for early miss

The decisive moment arrived in the 75th minute, but Isidor had already spurned a glorious opportunity four minutes earlier. Set up by Enzo Le Fee from a long pass by Xhaka, the forward had the goal at his mercy — only to strike the post.

He wasted no time making amends. Fellow substitute Habib Diarra drove the ball across the face of goal, and Isidor rolled it into an empty net after Bernd Leno failed to cut out the low cross. Manager Regis Le Bris's substitutions had made all the difference.

Fulham showed promise but lacked a cutting edge

Fulham were not without their moments. In the 26th minute, Iwobi slipped an incisive pass over the defence to King, who had stolen in behind, but King's first touch took him away from goal and his shot drifted over the bar.

They came close again in the 57th minute when Garcia picked up Berge's flick-on inside the box, only for Mukiele to recover and make a crucial last-ditch block.

In the end, those half-chances proved insufficient. Sunderland held firm to secure three points, while Fulham face a mounting challenge in their bid to find form under Arbeloa.
