Wolfsburg have secured the signing of Scottish striker Fraser Hornby from Bundesliga 2 side Darmstadt 98 for an undisclosed fee, with the 26-year-old committing to the club until 2030.

Hornby arrives at Wolfsburg — who were relegated from the Bundesliga for the first time in 29 years — after a productive campaign with Darmstadt 98, during which he netted 13 goals in 27 appearances as the club finished fifth in Bundesliga 2.

A journey through European football

Born in Northampton, Hornby began his professional career at Everton before moving across the continent. He went on loan to Aberdeen and Oostende while at Stade Reims, before completing a permanent switch to Darmstadt 98 in July 2023.

Despite being under contract at Darmstadt 98 for another year, Hornby opted to make the move to Wolfsburg ahead of their bid for an immediate return to the Bundesliga.

At international level, the striker has been a prolific finisher for Scotland Under-21s, recording 10 goals in 18 appearances for the young national side.
