Flying Eagles Eye Group B Glory Against Burkina Faso

55 minutes ago·1 min

Nigeria's Flying Eagles enter their final Group B fixture of the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship on Sunday needing only a point against Burkina Faso to finish top of the group.

The defending champions have already secured their semi-final berth after back-to-back wins in the opening two rounds. Coach Abdu Maikaba's side launched their title defence with a dominant 4-2 defeat of arch-rivals Ghana, then followed up with a clinical 3-0 victory over Togo.

Those results leave Nigeria sitting on a perfect six points — enough to guarantee top spot with even a draw against the Young Stallions.

Burkina Faso also come in unbeaten

The clash is far from a formality, however. Burkina Faso arrive on four points from two games, having beaten Togo and held Ghana to a draw. A victory for the Young Stallions, combined with the right results elsewhere, could reshuffle the standings.

For the Flying Eagles, a win would not only secure first place in Group B but also preserve their unbeaten record as they push for back-to-back regional titles. Maikaba's squad will be eager to carry momentum into the semi-finals rather than simply settling for qualification.
