Wolves Leave Arokodare Out of Pre-Season Squad Amid Transfer Interest

2 hours ago·1 min

Wolverhampton Wanderers have left Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare out of their pre-season training squad, intensifying speculation that the Nigerian forward could depart Molineux before the summer transfer window closes.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the omission, noting that Arokodare was absent as Wolves began their pre-season preparations. The development has sharpened expectations of an imminent exit for the 25-year-old.

Fiorentina lead the chase

Serie A club Fiorentina are the frontrunners for Arokodare's signature, according to Romano. The Italian side's opening offer was turned down by Wolves, yet talks between the two clubs are continuing, with Fiorentina hopeful of striking a deal in the near term.

Trabzonspor of the Turkish Süper Lig are also keeping tabs on the striker's situation. However, Arokodare is understood to prefer a move to one of Europe's top-five leagues and has little appetite for a transfer to Turkey.

Wolves hold the leverage

Arokodare is contracted to Wolves until 2029, with the club holding an option to extend that deal by a further year. That security means Wolverhampton Wanderers are under no immediate pressure to cash in, and they are expected to hold out for a substantial fee before agreeing to any sale.

Fiorentina reportedly view the Nigerian as a priority signing to bolster their attacking line ahead of the new Serie A campaign. Negotiations between all parties remain active as the clubs work toward a resolution.
