"It's been good. Everything is new, not perfect, but we're still working on making these things better. Hopefully, in the games to come, it gets better."

The fullback also offered a candid assessment of Nottingham Forest's season ambitions, expressing hope that the club can move clear of any relegation anxiety and build momentum.

"Hopefully we don't fight for survival. Hopefully we're safe and we're doing well in the league. I just want to play good football, do good things, and hopefully we can have a good season."

Aina acknowledged the emotional weight of Taiwo Awoniyi's departure from Nottingham Forest to Coventry City, admitting that the transfer has left him as the only Nigerian player at the club.

"Yeah, I'm alone now. I just want to keep playing and enjoying my football. That's the main thing for me."

Despite the personal sense of loss, Aina said he reached out to Awoniyi directly with a warm private message when the move was confirmed. He was careful to keep the contents between the two of them, but made clear he is fully behind his compatriot.

"I messaged him personally that day and it was a personal note I sent to him. I was so happy for him. It's between us and I hope we can have a good season."
