Alverca Celebrate Isaac James' Maiden Super Eagles Call-Up for AFCON 2027 Qualifiers
Portuguese club Alverca have expressed enormous pride after their defender Isaac James received his first call-up to Nigeria's Super Eagles, ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
James earned the invitation on the strength of a commanding run of form at club level, having started six matches in the 2026/2027 season and establishing himself as a regular starter for Alverca.
The club wasted no time marking the occasion through their official social media channels, announcing:
"Isaac James was convocado for the first time to represent the Nigerian National Team. Our athlete was selected for the matches in the Qualifying Phase for the CAN 2027."
Nigeria are preparing for two pivotal home fixtures in the qualifying phase. The Super Eagles will host Madagascar on September 25 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, before facing Guinea-Bissau four days later.
James's selection reflects the continued rise of Nigerian talent in European football, as the three-time African champions assemble their squad for the continental challenge ahead.
