Ancelotti Promises Brazil Changes Ahead of Haiti World Cup Clash

1 hour ago·2 min

Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Brazil will make changes to their starting line-up for Saturday's FIFA World Cup 2026 group-stage fixture against Haiti at Philadelphia Stadium.

The announcement comes after a frustrating 1-1 draw with Morocco in Brazil's opening match of the tournament, a result that left Ancelotti openly critical of his squad's performance.

Ancelotti demands more from his players

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Ancelotti made clear that standards must rise. "The team can and must do more," he said. "We'll make some changes, maybe bring in a fresher player. We need to improve our balance and the quality of our play. Make fewer steps wrong. We have the quality to do it, to play a fun game."

The Italian coach also addressed his squad selection approach, noting he prefers to inform players before the media. "I have no problem communicating initial training. Football has no secrets, but I prefer to tell the players first," he said.

Ancelotti reflected candidly on the Morocco match. "Against Morocco, the match didn't go well and makes me a bit critical of the team. We have to find a solution. We have been working over the past few days to try to resolve the situation, and I believe we will succeed because I continue to trust that the team will be competitive in this World Cup."

Respect for Haiti

Despite the gulf in global rankings between the two nations, Ancelotti refused to underestimate Haiti, describing them as a well-organised and physically imposing side.

"Haiti is a very balanced team, with above all physical quality, well organised and with a rather clear system," he said. "They play good football given their characteristics. We must respect everyone because this is a World Cup and everyone is very motivated."

Ancelotti also outlined the tactical demands the match will place on his side. "We have to do many things well: defend with a low block, attack, exploit individual quality, be aggressive forward, lower the block, defend in our own area," he added.

Brazil's place in the group remains precarious after failing to win their opener, and Ancelotti knows a convincing performance against Haiti is essential to restore confidence and momentum heading into the knockout stage.
