Arokodare Lights Up Eredivisie Debut With Assist in Ajax Win

Tolu Arokodare made a winning start to life in the Netherlands, registering an assist on his Eredivisie debut as Ajax claimed a 2-0 victory at PEC Zwolle to open their league campaign.
The Nigeria international entered the match as a substitute in the 73rd minute, replacing Abdellah Ouazane. Within three minutes of stepping onto the pitch, he had already left his mark — setting up Jorthy Mokio to break the deadlock.
Julian Brandt then sealed the result deep into stoppage time, with Mika Godts claiming the second assist of the evening.
Loan move from Wolverhampton Wanderers
Arokodare arrived at Ajax on a season-long loan from Sky Bet Championship club Wolverhampton Wanderers last month. The former European champions will be counting on the striker to contribute throughout what promises to be a busy campaign.
What's next for Ajax
Before returning to league action, Ajax face a trip to Dublin for the second leg of their UEFA Europa Conference League third qualifying round tie against Shelbourne. Ajax carry a commanding 3-1 lead into that fixture, having won the first leg at the Johan Cruyff Arena.
They then host Heerenveen at home in their next Eredivisie outing on Sunday.
